KS3 MATHS
The key thing to getting the most out of GCSE maths is laying strong foundations during the earlier years of secondary learning.
The basic core topics would include number properties and calculation, ratios, fractions, decimals, percentages, and using negative numbers. If your child doesn’t have a solid understanding of these ideas, then piling on the harder topics is simply not going to work.
Maths is usually taught in ability sets in KS3. Children will use mental and written methods, as well as calculators and ICT, such as spreadsheets. They will work on problems linked to other subjects, and also to everyday life. The focus is on developing mathematical fluency, mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
